___Our children need strong and continuous parental support. ParentTalk offers parents the opportunity to find effective methods to increase positive communication with their children. Parents come together to learn to advocate for their children at school and in the court system.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PARENTTALK SESSION?

  • Parents share their experiences with other parents.
  • Parents talk about and practice effective parenting skills.
  • Parents recognize how to improve communication with their children.
  • Parents learn to recognize the warning signs of gang involvement.
  • Parents help children identify how to make positive decisions.
  • Parents discover techniques to effectively communicate the needs of their children to school staff and the courts.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

 ___ParentTalk is designed for parents who have children who are involved in the juvenile justice system, having difficulties at school or who are at-risk youth. Any parent or guardian can attend ParentTalk.

WHO BENEFITS?

___Parents, children, and the community benefit from ParentTalk. Parents become more involved in the academic and social lives of their children which decreases the likelihood that their child will become involved in criminal activity in the community or at school. Parents are able to recognize the importance of knowing their roles as parents.

IS THERE A FEE?

___No. ParentTalk is free to the public.
